It is worth noting that armed clashes in Sudan began on April 15, 2023, between the army commanded by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces commanded by Mohammed Hamdan Daqlou, nicknamed “Hamidati,” for power, and international mediation to end it and bring the conflicting parties to the negotiating table has so far been unsuccessful.
According to United Nations statistics, the war between Sudan’s two major military forces has led to the displacement of eight million people amid continued violence and hunger.
About 25 million people, nearly half of Sudan’s population, are in dire need of urgent assistance due to the ongoing war, and 18 million people are at risk of famine.
A ceasefire has been declared in Sudan several times with international mediation, but the warring parties have consistently violated it.
