PNN – The UN Secretary-General said that settlement activity by the Israeli regime in the West Bank saw an unprecedented increase in 2025, stressing that all such settlements are illegal, null, and void.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, in a report.

Guterres said in his report that 2025 witnessed the largest expansion of Israeli settlement plans since UN monitoring began. He condemned settler violence, which is increasing at an alarming pace and intensifies during the olive harvest season.

He emphasized that all Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal, null, and void, and constitute a clear violation of international law.

Referring to developments in Gaza, the UN Secretary-General said he is deeply concerned about the fragile security situation in Gaza and the ongoing violence that threatens the ceasefire. Periodic Israeli attacks in Gaza continue to cause significant civilian casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

Condemning the Israeli regime’s obstruction of the delivery of essential aid to the Gaza Strip, Guterres warned that essential protein sources remain inaccessible to most people, despite improved access to food in Gaza. Full accountability must be ensured for any atrocity crimes or violations of international law.

António Guterres also said that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is catastrophic, with more than 80 percent of residential and public buildings destroyed or severely damaged.
