Hamas: Conditions for a ceasefire are not ready at the moment.
While the ceasefire negotiations in the Gaza Strip remain ambiguous due to the ongoing deceptions and sabotage by the Zionist regime and the United States, Mohammed Nazzal, a member of the Hamas political bureau, addressed the recent developments in the war and the ceasefire discussion and stated: The two recent operations carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades in eastern Jabalia and Shujaiyah are a natural response to the aggressions of the Zionist enemy, and such operations do not affect the process of the ceasefire negotiations.
Resistance operations are a natural response to the aggression of the occupiers
In an interview with Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, Mohammed Nazzal stated: The resistance cannot remain indifferent to the entry of the occupying forces into the borders of the Gaza Strip, and Hamas is currently responding to Qatar’s efforts to fill the gaps in the latest proposal by Steve Whittaker, the US envoy for the ceasefire agreement.
He added: “What does the occupying regime expect from the resistance when it brings its officers, soldiers, and equipment to attack the Gaza Strip? Have they come for a walk, for example? It is completely logical and natural for the resistance to confront these criminal terrorists, and this is what the Al-Qassam Brigades are doing. Therefore, talking about the operations of the resistance fighters against the Zionist military hurting the negotiations is not the right conclusion, because the negotiation process cannot progress unless the balance of power changes politically and militarily.”
The Hamas official noted: “Any surrender to the enemy will only increase the stubbornness of its negotiating team, and the experience of the negotiations on the Oslo Accords is a lesson and an example in this regard. At present, the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza are at an impasse, and the conditions are not yet ready for reaching an agreement, which is due to several reasons.”
Zionist and American deceptions are the reason for the continuation of the war
Nazzal clarified: The first reason is that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the occupation regime, and his coalition do not want the war to end, because they believe that this war has not achieved any of the regime’s strategic goals, including goals such as displacing the Palestinian people from their land, destroying the resistance, and imposing a puppet power to rule Gaza.
