Hamas: Israeli cabinet decision on Gaza occupation is a “war crime”
The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, emphasizing that “the occupation regime’s decision indicates the reason for its sudden withdrawal from the latest round of negotiations,” stated: “We have provided everything necessary for the success of the efforts to establish a ceasefire and we will spare no effort to take steps that pave the way for reaching an agreement.” The Hamas statement said: “The decision to occupy Gaza shows that the criminal Netanyahu and his government are indifferent to the fate of their prisoners.”
The statement added: “Israel’s use of the word ‘control’ instead of ‘occupation’ is a clear ploy to evade and shirk legal responsibility for the consequences of its crime.”
At the same time, Hamas announced its conditional readiness for an agreement, saying: “We are ready for a comprehensive agreement to release all prisoners of the occupying regime in exchange for a cessation of the war and the withdrawal of its forces from it.”
