Hamas responds to Trump: Gaza is not for sale.
According to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hadath network, Hamas political bureau member Bassem Naeem added in a statement: “Gaza is an inseparable part of the Palestinian territory and is not property that can be sold on the free market.”
He stressed that the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza is the minimum condition for negotiations with the Israeli regime, which has imposed a severe blockade on the Gaza Strip since early March.
The Hamas political bureau member stated that the minimum condition for holding favorable and constructive negotiations is to oblige the cabinet of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to open the crossings and allow humanitarian aid, food, and medicine to enter Gaza.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump, at a business meeting in Qatar, once again emphasized his country’s desire to control the Gaza Strip and said that the United States will turn Gaza into a free zone.
He added: “There is nothing left to save in the Palestinian territories.”
Trump first revealed his controversial idea about Gaza in February 2025 at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the first foreign guest, saying that he wanted to turn Gaza into a “beautiful region of the Middle East.”
The plan was met with global condemnation, with Palestinians, Arab countries, and the United Nations declaring that it would amount to ethnic cleansing.
Trump’s unprecedented, historic, and unexpected statements about Gaza on February 4, 2025, that the United States should occupy, control, develop, and maintain the war-torn Gaza and have “long-term ownership” in it have drawn global reactions.
On January 25, the US President proposed a plan to transfer Gaza residents to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan, which met with negative reactions from both countries, other Arab countries, and regional and international organizations. Some time later, he proposed a plan to take over Gaza by the United States.
