According to the Mehr news agency, citing the Palestinian Sama news agency, the Hamas movement issued a statement in response to statements attributed to Musa Abu Marzouk, stating that the media statements in this interview, which was conducted with the New York Times newspaper on February 24, are incorrect.
Hamas added: This interview was conducted a few days ago and the published statements do not reflect the complete answers provided, but rather these statements are outside the main text of the interview and contradict the issues raised.
According to the Hamas report, Abu Marzouk emphasized that the October 7 operation (Al-Aqsa Storm) demonstrates the right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation and siege, and that the occupiers are primarily responsible for the genocide in Gaza.
Hamas also said that Abu Marzouk stressed the movement’s consistent positions and the right of the Palestinian people to resist until the occupiers are destroyed, adding that it adheres to the right of the Palestinian people to use various forms of resistance, especially armed resistance.
The group added: Abu Marzouk also stressed that the weapon of resistance is the right of the Palestinian people and its purpose is to protect the Palestinian people and its sanctities, and that retreating from it will not be possible as long as the occupation of Palestinian lands continues.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem rejected the statements attributed to Musa Abu Marzouk and stressed the legitimacy and non-negotiable nature of the weapon of resistance.
