Hamas: Rumors about talks with Saudi Arabia for disarmament are lies

PNN – A senior Hamas source, emphasizing that resistance is the legitimate right of all those under occupation, denied rumors about the movement’s talks with Saudi Arabia for disarmament and announced that the Arabs should pressure Netanyahu instead of trying to suppress the resistance.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Following Bloomberg’s recent report on France and Saudi Arabia’s agreement on a proposal aimed at disarming Hamas as a prelude to dissolving the movement, a prominent Hamas leader announced last night that there had been no contact between the movement’s officials and Saudi or French officials regarding the rumored plan by Riyadh and Paris to disarm Hamas and turn it into a purely political entity.

This Hamas source stated in an interview with Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed: The resistance weapons case has been completely closed (the resistance weapons remain) and this decision was made with the agreement of all armed groups in the Gaza Strip, not just based on Hamas’ position.

Resistance is the legitimate right of Palestinians.

The Hamas leader emphasized: Any effort in this direction, focusing on disarming Gaza, without talking about the need to force the Zionist occupiers to stop the aggression or pressuring them to allow aid into the strip, is merely a favor to the cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu, the criminal Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, which has faced international pressure in the shadow of a genocidal war against civilians and scenes of bloody massacres of children.

He continued: Resistance is a legitimate right guaranteed by international conventions and laws for those under occupation. The Hamas delegation in Egypt assured the mediators that if Hamas’s management and governance in the Gaza Strip were to become an obstacle to the arrival of aid, the reconstruction of the Strip, and the end of the war, then we would definitely not insist on the government in Gaza and would abandon it. Hamas has made its position on this matter clear and explicit.

This resistance source stated: Hamas has shown its goodwill to the international community and has announced its full readiness to release the Zionist prisoners, in one step. We also released American-Zionist prisoner of war Eidan Alexander as a sign of our goodwill, but in return, the whole world is witnessing the extent of the killing and destruction that the occupiers have unleashed.

Arab parties should put pressure on Netanyahu instead of trying to suppress the resistance

The source added: In contrast, instead of Arab and international parties directing their pressure towards Netanyahu, who is preventing any agreement, we are witnessing measures to further suppress the resistance and Gaza. But we emphasize once again that what Netanyahu did not achieve in the war, he will not achieve at the negotiating table.

The Hamas leader said: The pressure cards that the resistance has are the Zionist prisoners and the steadfastness of the people of Gaza. Netanyahu has sacrificed the fate and lives of the Israeli prisoners for his personal interests and to preserve his coalition. Some of the Zionist prisoners are injured and some, like the residents of the Gaza Strip, are suffering from difficult living conditions.

He noted: It seems that Netanyahu does not want these prisoners to come out of Gaza alive so as not to reveal to Israeli society what they have been through due to his policies, the actions of his army, and the repeated targeting of the place where these prisoners are being held in Gaza.

These comments came after Bloomberg News reported last Thursday, citing informed sources that France and Saudi Arabia were working on a proposal aimed at disarming Hamas as a prelude to dissolving the movement.

However, Hamas movement sources generally denied these claims and announced that such contacts had not been made and that this issue was not on the agenda.

Previously, Mahmoud Mardavi, a senior Hamas leader, responded to the brazen demand by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to disarm the resistance, saying that Hamas completely rejects this demand and emphasizes its commitment to the option of resistance until the end of the occupation and the liberation of Palestine.

He stated: Hamas categorically rejects Mahmoud Abbas’s demand to hand over weapons of resistance. These weapons are the legitimate right of the people who resist the occupation and face the ongoing crimes of the Zionist enemy. Returning to partial agreements has proven its failure and will only bring more violations and suffering to our people, so we will not accept any partial agreements.

The Hamas leader emphasized: Hamas does not see surrendering the weapons of resistance as a solution, but rather considers it surrendering national rights and abandoning its duty to defend the Palestinian people.
