Hamas thanked the voters for the draft ceasefire resolution in Gaza

PNN – The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued a statement praising the countries that voted in favor of the draft resolution establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to Pakistan News Network, quoted by the Palestinian Shahab news agency, the Hamas movement has stated in its statement: We thank the countries that voted in favor of the draft resolution, especially Russia, China and the group of Arab countries.

This movement also “asked the international community to take serious and concrete measures to stop the killings of the Nazi occupiers (the Israeli regime) who have committed the most heinous crimes in the current era”.

The Hamas movement strongly condemned the veto of the draft resolution on the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza by the United States and demanded an immediate stop to the Israeli occupation regime’s attacks on Gaza and added: We consider the US government to be complicit in the killing of our own people through political and military support to the occupiers to continue the genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.

The resolution proposed by the United Arab Emirates was put to a vote at the United Nations Security Council meeting on Friday, where 13 of the 15 members of the Security Council voted in favor, one member, the United States of America, voted against, and the other member, Britain, abstained.

The United Arab Emirates had submitted a short draft resolution to the council that called for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire” and had the support of Arab and Islamic countries. The proposed resolution, which was not approved by the Security Council, expressed great concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the suffering of the Palestinian civilian population, and emphasized that the civilian population of Palestine and Israel should be protected according to international humanitarian law.

Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, sent a letter to the President of the Security Council Citing Article 99 of the United Nations Charter, regarding the extent of human casualties in Gaza following the Israeli regime’s war.

Article 99 of the UN Charter, which has been used only 9 times in the history of the United Nations, states that “the Secretary-General may report to the Security Council any matter which in his opinion may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security.”
