Hamas: We are not far from an agreement if we receive the necessary guarantees.

Taher al-Nunno, a leader of the Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement, stressed: “We have offered many concessions for the success of the mediators’ efforts.”

Al-Nunno said: “If Netanyahu responds positively and provides clear guarantees for the end of the war and the complete withdrawal of the occupying forces, we are not far from a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.”

On the other hand, Musa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Hamas political bureau, said: “Netanyahu has been preventing an agreement from being reached over the past months, and today he is the main obstacle to the conclusion of this agreement.”

However, he added: “There is great hope for reaching an agreement for several reasons. The first is President Trump’s position and his setting of January 20 to complete the agreement and end the war.”

He also cited another reason as the presence of all parties, “although the Israeli delegation has attended the negotiations with limited powers.”

Another reason, according to Musa Abu Marzouk, is the continuous pressure from various parties in the occupation regime to reach an agreement, “because the army has no goals to achieve and continuing the war means killing more Israeli prisoners, in addition to the fact that the majority of Israelis, especially the families of the prisoners, are pushing to complete the agreement and end the war.”

He also considered the continued resistance and its effectiveness, the steadfastness and sacrifice of the Palestinian people, and the positivity of the Palestinian negotiating team and its support for anything that leads to a cessation of the war, as other hopeful reasons for reaching an agreement.
