Hamas’s reaction to Asharq Al-Awsat’s story about the assassination of Muhammad Al-Dief.
According to Shihab News, the publication of news about the fate of “Mohammed al-Dief”, the commander-in-chief of the Qassam Brigades (the military wing of the Hamas movement), by the London-based Arabic-language newspaper “Asharq al-Awsat”, prompted a reaction from the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas.
The Hamas movement stated in this regard, stating: “The news published in the London-based newspaper Asharq al-Awsat regarding the fate of the Mujahideen commander Mohammed al-Dief – may God protect him – which was attributed to a source in the Hamas movement is incorrect.”
Hamas also called on all media outlets in this statement to prioritize accuracy, credibility, and professionalism.
It is worth noting that a little earlier, the newspaper “Asharq al-Awsat”, by publishing statements from people it called sources familiar with the Hamas movement, claimed that Hamas leaders inside and outside the Gaza Strip had received indications regarding the martyrdom of “Mohammed al-Dief”, the commander-in-chief of the Qassam Brigades. Asharq Al-Awsat’s claim comes in line with the claims of the Zionist regime, while the Hamas movement had previously denied Al-Dief’s assassination.
