Hamdan: Trump is trying to save Netanyahu.
Following news reports about US President Donald Trump’s claims about an imminent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Osama Hamdan, a leader of the Hamas movement, announced last night that Hamas, through mediators, has presented a comprehensive vision for a ceasefire that will lead to a comprehensive agreement, including a complete cessation of aggression against Gaza, the opening of crossings and the beginning of reconstruction of the ruins, but Zionist sabotage prevented this agreement from being reached.
The US supports the Zionist positions in any plan for a ceasefire
Osama Hamdan stated in an interview with Al Jazeera: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the occupation regime is seeking to exploit the recent war with Iran for his electoral goals and is avoiding reaching any agreement that would stop the aggression against Gaza due to his domestic political agenda.
He added: Netanyahu rejected the agreement document proposed by the mediators four weeks ago, which called for a temporary ceasefire for 60 days, followed by negotiations for a permanent ceasefire and the opening of the crossings for aid to enter Gaza. Meanwhile, the United States has not taken any clear position in condemning Netanyahu’s action and has continued to support the positions of the Zionist regime’s cabinet.
The Hamas leader said: “So far, nothing new has been observed in the occupation’s position, and this shows that Netanyahu is deliberately only looking for a way to prevent the fall of his cabinet. The occupation regime’s cabinet is adopting a view based on expelling Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and the displacement of people and the demolition of houses in the West Bank are part of this plan.”
Linking the end of the Gaza war to the end of Netanyahu’s trial
He warned that ignoring this matter and the aggressions and deceitful plan that the occupiers are carrying out in the West Bank and Gaza will pave the way for widespread ethnic cleansing.
The US is not serious about a ceasefire in Gaza
Osama Hamdan stressed: There must be a real will to stop the genocidal war against Gaza, and the daily death toll in Gaza is approaching 100 people, and in addition, a large number of Gazans are also losing their lives due to hunger and the lack of aid.
Regarding the field performance of the Palestinian resistance against the Zionist enemy, the Hamas leader said that the resistance fighters are responding to the aggressions of the occupiers in the field and that the recent operations send a clear message that the Zionist aggressions will be met with a serious and effective response.
Osama Hamdan stated: We presented a comprehensive proposal for a ceasefire that included a complete cessation of aggression, a complete lifting of the siege on Gaza, and the beginning of a political process that would lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. The Qatari and Egyptian mediators also explicitly supported this plan.
He continued: The main obstacle to reaching a ceasefire agreement is the lack of real pressure from the US government and the Zionist regime, and Washington’s public statements on the Gaza ceasefire do not go beyond general issues and do not address the need to stop the brutal crimes against Palestinian civilians.
Trump seeks to save Netanyahu
This Hamas official, referring to US President Donald Trump’s efforts to save Netanyahu and not prosecute him, said: “What is happening today is worthless political blackmail that the Palestinian people are paying the price for. Netanyahu is exploiting the blood of the Palestinians to escape trial for corruption and war crimes.”
Osama Hamdan emphasized: “The continued sending of weapons and ammunition by the US to the Zionist regime’s army is an expression of Washington’s clear complicity in the continuation of the war and crimes of this regime, and the US government is not serious about reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and cannot consider itself an honest mediator.”
He continued: “Hamas will continue its efforts to reach a real ceasefire that protects the blood of the Palestinian people, brings their sacrifices to fruition, leads to accountability of the criminals, and guarantees the national rights of the Palestinians, including the establishment of a fully independent and sovereign state.”
