Head of Middle East Watch: Israel’s impunity is the reason for its continued aggression.
Dawood Abdullah, the head of the British Middle East Watch, said in an interview with Al-Sharq: Israel’s attempt to assassinate the political leaders of the Hamas movement in Doha is a criminal attack on the country of Qatar, and this cowardly aggression has no justification.
He emphasized: We can draw three conclusions from the Israeli regime’s aggression against the Hamas movement’s negotiators in Doha; first, that Israel does not care about creating a political solution, second, that it has no respect for international law, and third, that the Israeli regime has proven to be rebellious.
Abdullah added: If Israeli leaders hope to achieve political or military gains from this action, they are mistaken, because Hamas will not raise the white flag of peace and will continue its resistance to confronting the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza, and Qatar will not change its fundamental principles and ideals in diplomacy.
The head of the Middle East Watch said that there are questions about this aggression that must be answered immediately, including who knew about this issue and when they were informed. US President Trump’s approach in this regard is not convincing, and Washington’s contact with Qatar 10 minutes after the attack began brought bad feelings, anger, and disappointment.
He warned: “Condemnations and expressions of regret regarding the Israeli attack on Doha will not change anything and will not compensate for the damages, and without deterrence and punishment, Israel will continue its unjustified aggression against countries, which will lead to the entire region being inflamed.”
Daoud Abdullah noted: “A few weeks before this attack, Israeli politicians announced their intention to target Hamas leaders abroad. However, no one expected that they would commit this crime inside Qatar, which has been at the heart of the mediation since October 2023.”
