PNN – The economic and Hebrew-language newspaper Globes announced that Azerbaijan is considered the most important candidate to reduce the tension between Ankara and Tel Aviv.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, this media expert in economic affairs wrote in this regard, today Tel Aviv’s eyes are on Azerbaijan to reduce the restrictions imposed on Turkey’s exports to Israel.
Dean Shamuel Elmes, the author of this report, said: In the shadow of the president who is close to both Netanyahu and Erdogan, there is a possibility of Azerbaijan playing a role in reducing the tension between Israel and Turkey.
This article states: Relations between Israel and Turkey became critical since the beginning of the Gaza war, but in the last two weeks, after the unprecedented decision of Recep Tayyip Erdogan to ban the export of 54 types of goods to Israel, it reached its peak. Because Israel’s Achilles heel was hit, especially since the industries in Israel are in trouble due to the lack of Palestinian labor. In any case, Ankara purposefully chose the banned goods, among them cement, which accounts for 29% of Israel’s imports from Turkey.

After discussing the history of the ups and downs of relations between the two sides, the author believes that the solution to this crisis will come from Baku.
He writes: It is not impossible that the process of peace will come from Baku. Ilham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan, is one of the few figures in the world – if there is another figure – who is both close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and especially close to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Israel is a vital buyer of oil from Baku, Azerbaijan through the Baku-Tbilisi oil pipeline reaches this Turkish coastal port and from there it is loaded on oil tankers to Haifa.
In January, for example, Israel was the top importer of oil from Azerbaijan with 523.5 thousand tons worth 297 million dollars.
In this regard, the possibility of closing the export route by Türkiye is one of the possible scenarios, but preferably it will not be implemented.
This issue is not because of the relations between Türkiye and Israel, but because of the relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
Relations between Ankara and Baku are based on the idea of ”one nation with two countries” (Bir Mellat, Eki Dolat), so the last thing Erdogan wants is to harm the interests of his close friend Aliyev. From this point of view, the power of Baku’s diplomatic influence on Turkish-Israeli relations can be seen. In the previous crisis between Turkey and Israel, Azerbaijan was an important factor in mediating between the two sides, and it still has the capacity to do such work.
