Lapid: Netanyahu’s government is afraid of forming a fact-finding committee
According to this Hebrew-language media outlet, Benjamin Netanyahu, who was considered the main factor in prolonging the war, is still preventing any progress towards the formation of a Palestinian state, while at the same time clearly emphasizing that he will thwart all efforts to move to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The newspaper added: “The UN Security Council is scheduled to vote on a resolution prepared by the US on the Gaza Strip on Monday evening. Its main focus is on providing international legitimacy for the establishment of an international peacekeeping force in Gaza.”
Another part of the report states: Since the ceasefire began last month, Washington has been working with several Arab countries, especially Egypt, to form an international force to be deployed in Gaza to ensure that the war does not resume. The role of this force is to contain Israel and Hamas and make it more difficult for tensions to escalate.
Haaretz then discusses the obstructionism of Benjamin Netanyahu in this analytical report, identifying him as the biggest problem in this regard.
In this regard, it states: The biggest obstacle to moving to the second phase of the Gaza plan and achieving any diplomatic progress is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The United States’ Arab partners believe that he will not allow any progress towards the creation of a Palestinian state.
Netanyahu has made it clear that he is blocking the transition to the second phase. Despite promises from the United States, there seems to be no solution to the crisis of Hamas militants trapped east of the Green Line, separating Israeli forces and Hamas.
According to some sources, Hamas was promised a solution in exchange for the return of Hadar Goldin’s body.
