Herzog, in a statement issued by his office, added that “violent discourse” will not deter him from his decision, and the request for pardon will be examined carefully and clearly.

The Zionist newspaper “Israel Hayom” addressed Netanyahu’s request for pardon and added that Netanyahu, in appearance, asks Herzog to grant him a pardon “based on public interest,” but in practice he is proposing a deal in which judicial reforms would be canceled in exchange for the pardon.

Netanyahu has promised in this request that the pardon will enable him to work for the unity of Zionists and even to address other issues such as the judicial system and the media.

The newspaper believes that Netanyahu, by referring to returning to address additional issues, is practically suggesting that he will give up judicial reforms.
