PNN – Special operations teams from the Navy, the Revolutionary Guards, and the Russian Federation successfully conducted a drill to free a hijacked ship.
Continuing the joint naval exercise between the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, floating and flying units and special operations teams of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the Russian Federation practiced the operation to free a hijacked ship.
At this stage, after sending an emergency message from commercial ships to the Bandar Abbas MRCC center, the operation area was first identified and searched by an SH3D helicopter of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy and a Bell 412 helicopter of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Then, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s destroyer “Alvand”, as the command ship of the exercise, dispatched combat vessels stationed in the region to the targeted area to carry out the liberation operation.
Subsequently, the special operations forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, with the participation of the special operations forces of the Russian Federation Navy, carried out a seizure operation from the air and on the ground, and after arresting the pirates, successfully carried out the operation to free the ship.
The spokesman for the joint naval exercise between the Iranian and Russian naval forces announced yesterday (Wednesday): The joint naval exercise between the navies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation will be held on Thursday in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean region.
Rear Admiral Hassan Maghsoudlou, spokesman for the joint naval exercise of the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation, said: This exercise is being hosted by the First Imamat Region of the Iranian Navy in Bandar Abbas, and its main goal is to promote security and sustainable maritime interactions in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean.
He added: Developing joint maritime cooperation and strengthening relations between the naval forces of the two countries in designing and implementing joint operations are other goals of this exercise.
