PNN – The Iranian armed forces have the appropriate weapons and tactics to target American ships, especially in the Persian Gulf.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Supreme Leader of the Revolution mentioned in his recent remarks the possibility of sinking American ships, a matter that raises the question of whether Iran really has the ability to do this or not.
Damage to American warships is a common occurrence in the Persian Gulf. During the eight-year war, the USS Samuel Roberts was once damaged by naval mines we used, and the USS Stark was seriously damaged by a missile mistakenly fired from an Iraqi aircraft. This issue showed that American combat vessels, despite their very good equipment, also have vulnerabilities.
Now, years have passed since then, and Iran has much more diverse and powerful capabilities to harm American vessels, especially in the Persian Gulf.
Various types of cruise missiles capable of being fired from land, air, sea, and even underwater, which can act intelligently and attack their targets from different directions; a subject that has been practiced many times in the naval exercises of the Army and the IRGC, and it is noteworthy that today these missiles can hit their targets up to a range of 1,500 kilometers.
In addition, there are ballistic missiles that, when equipped with optical seekers, can target ships at ranges up to 1,300 kilometers, as well as various mines and smart subsurface vessels, and powerful torpedoes that are capable of hitting their targets with precision. Meanwhile, the Whale submarine torpedo, with a speed of over 100 meters per second, can handle these ships very well.
In addition, using combined tactics and attacking a vessel from different directions and at different levels and heights can confuse or saturate its defense systems, making that ship or combat vessel vulnerable.
American ships have a variety of naval defense systems to counter different targets at different altitudes and levels, but there are also various tactics for targeting them, the required weapons of which are available to the Navy and IRGC.
So seriously damaging American vessels, especially in the Persian Gulf and even in the Sea of Oman, is something that our naval forces can handle, and the Iranian armed forces have the necessary facilities for this.
