Hundreds arrested in Washington under pretext of fighting rising crime.
US Attorney General Pam Bundy announced that Washington authorities have arrested more than 300 people in the past few nights during a crackdown on crime in the city, where Trump has deployed the National Guard to DC and federalized the police force.
Accordingly, Bundy wrote in a post on the social network X: So far, more than 300 people have been arrested, and last night alone, federal agents and law enforcement in DC arrested 68 people and seized 15 illegal weapons. These people are suspected of murder, drug trafficking and other charges. I stand with you to restore security to Washington, DC.
Meanwhile, Stephen Miller, the deputy chief of staff of the White House, recently compared the US capital to foreign war zones, writing in a post on the social network X: Graffiti is emerging in Washington. Graffiti left untouched scars public spaces. The graffiti is a visual declaration of a community’s surrender.
This comes as US President Donald Trump this week deployed hundreds of National Guard troops to Washington and temporarily took control of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to combat what he says is rising crime and homelessness in the city.
