Hunger strike of US government employees in protest of Biden’s policies in Gaza.
A group of US government employees have decided to go on a one-day hunger strike to protest against Biden’s policies in Gaza.
A group of US federal government employees will hold a one-day hunger strike on Thursday in protest against US President Joe Biden’s policies in Gaza.
According to “The Guardian”, Biden administration officials are planning to implement a program called “Fasting Day for Gaza” this week. Their action is done to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in this region and to condemn Biden’s policies towards the Zionist regime.
These people are a group of dozens of Biden government employees who organized an administrative strike this month, frustrated by the Gaza crisis, and are now going to hold a one-day hunger strike in this regard.
Employees participating in this ceremony are expected to wear black clothes and turbans as a symbol of solidarity with Palestine.
One of these people stated on behalf of other representatives: “Fasting for a day” is a response to Israel’s use of starvation to deliberately prevent food from entering Gaza as a weapon of war against the people. In his speech, this person cited UN reports that more than 2 million people in Gaza are now at risk of famine.
It is expected that more than 100 employees of the public sector, the Ministry of Defense and Internal Security, and activists of political sectors will participate in this ceremony.
The importance of holding a fasting ceremony for Gaza is that the strike held by this group earlier this month provoked strong reactions in Washington, and national security officials of both parties criticized the protests of government employees and called it disobedience.
Even “Mike Johnson”, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, considered the people participating in this strike to be fired from their jobs.
However, this group of employees continues to support Gaza and demand a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible. During the party that the White House organized last week to boost the morale of its employees amid the Gaza war, they said in a sharp statement: They are holding a party to boost the morale of their employees while a child is killed in Gaza every 8 minutes. They also made it clear that they are disgusted by this show of complete indifference to the lives that have been taken in the region in the past three months.
