Imran Khan sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Imran Khan sentenced to 14 years in prison.

According to Rashtadawi, a court in Pakistan sentenced former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to 14 years in prison on charges of “financial corruption at the Qadir University Trust”.

Imran Khan’s wife has also been sentenced to 7 years in prison in this case.

In mid-December this year, the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi. This order has been issued against 94 other members of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party.

The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court issued this order after protests by Imran Khan’s supporters in the Pakistani capital in early December.

Imran Khan, who has been in prison since 2023, on November 13 called on his supporters to hold nationwide protests until November 24. The order was issued in response to allegations of violence, rioting, and other crimes during the protests.

The former Pakistani Prime Minister was previously facing several charges and was awaiting bail for some of them. Imran Khan’s call for nationwide protests led to widespread clashes in Islamabad, which ended after three days with a crackdown by the country’s security forces.
