PNN – Yoav Zeitoun, a military correspondent for the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, said that signs of a possible resumption of fighting in Gaza are increasing within the next few months.
He added that this is expected to trigger a massive call-up of reservists and undo the promise made to reservists that they would serve only two months this year as scheduled.
According to this report, three months after the war ended with a ceasefire agreement, the Israeli army is busy taking practical steps to prepare for the possibility of a resumption of fighting with Hamas.
The report states that the Shin Bet has also warned that Hamas is restoring its military capability by manufacturing missiles and various types of weapons, especially explosive devices, as well as replacing its wounded or martyred leaders.
Zeitoun continued that the Israeli army has drawn up a new plan for evacuating people if a large-scale ground battle in Gaza resumes this year, and that a gradual ground operation is expected to be carried out without the restrictions caused by the presence of prisoners in Gaza and relying on regular forces, but this will have an indirect impact on reserve forces.
