The workers are demanding higher wages and have stopped work for seven days and disrupted production. The production of this factory includes almost a third of Samsung’s annual revenue of 12 billion dollars in India.
About 100 workers are under “preventive detention,” a senior Kanchipuram district police official told Reuters by phone.
About half of the factory’s daily production has been affected by the workers’ strike, and protesters continue to insist on their demands for higher wages and better working hours.
