Indian Prime Minister discusses Gaza with Trump and Netanyahu.
After Israel and Hamas reached a ceasefire and prisoner release deal, with the United States playing a role in brokering the truce, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that he had spoken to his “friend” Donald Trump and congratulated him on the “success of the historic Gaza peace plan.”
Modi also said in a message on Twitter that the two sides had made “good progress” and that the talks had discussed bilateral trade, noting his second conversation with Trump in less than a month.
Noting a new urgency for engagement at the highest level, the Indian prime minister mentioned Gaza and Trump twice in separate messages on Thursday. First, he welcomed the Gaza plan, which was the first phase of Trump’s plan to end the war. Then, in a separate message, Modi announced that he had called Trump.
Modi wrote on Twitter late Thursday that he had also spoken to his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu “to congratulate him on the progress made on the Gaza plan.”
Modi stressed in his message that terrorism in any form or shape is unacceptable anywhere in the world.
Delhi has belatedly realized how much Trump wants to be known as a “peacemaker” and “president of peace.”
According to IRNA, US President Donald Trump, in a meeting with his Finnish counterpart, claimed that no one will be forced to leave Gaza and said, “I will travel to the Middle East on Sunday.”
He also said that he has been invited to speak at the Israeli Knesset and will accept this invitation.
On the morning of Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued a statement officially announcing the achievement of an agreement to end the war in Gaza and exchange prisoners. The agreement came into effect an hour ago.
