Indonesia: We will not normalize relations with Israel

Indonesia

PNN – Indonesia announced that its participation in the “International Stabilization Force” in Gaza does not mean normalizing relations with the Israeli regime.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Jakarta Globe, Indonesia announced that it will withdraw from the “International Stabilization Force” in the Gaza Strip at any time if the mission of the Gaza security forces is not aligned with Jakarta’s policies regarding Palestine.

According to the media outlet, Indonesia has promised that the mission of its soldiers in Gaza will be limited to humanitarian tasks, including protecting civilians, providing humanitarian aid, rebuilding or training the Palestinian police force.

Indonesia will also only deploy troops with the “consent of the Palestinian authorities.”

The ministry announced in a statement: We can cancel this mission at any time. If the tasks assigned to the International Stabilization Force deviate from what our national standards pursue, or are inconsistent with Indonesian foreign policy, Jakarta will end its participation in this group. Our forces will not engage in combat or confrontation with any armed force (referring to the Palestinian group Hamas). Jakarta pledged to use force only in self-defense and as a last resort.

According to the press release, Indonesia also reiterated its position on “rejecting any attempt to change the demographic composition, forcibly relocate or relocate Palestinians in any form.”

Wahid Nabil Malachla, a spokesman for the country’s Foreign Ministry, told the Jakarta Globe: Indonesia’s presence in the Peace Council cannot be interpreted as normalizing political relations with any party or legitimizing the policy of a particular party.
