Indonesian President’s visit to Pakistan focuses on economy, technology, and defense.
According to Pakistan National Television, Prabowo Subianto arrived in Islamabad at noon local time today and was welcomed by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
This is the first visit by an Indonesian president to Pakistan in the past 7 years. A high-level political, economic, and defense delegation will accompany the Indonesian president on this 2-day visit, which is scheduled to meet with senior Pakistani political and military officials.
According to the announcement of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, several cooperation documents are scheduled to be signed between Islamabad and Jakarta in the fields of economy, defense, investment, health, and education.
This summer, the Indonesian Defense Minister met with the President, Prime Minister, and Army Chief of Pakistan during an official visit to Islamabad and emphasized his country’s desire to further strengthen defense relations with Pakistan and explore possible areas for cooperation, especially in defense production.
Jakarta and Islamabad also have close ties in the defense and military fields. In Shahrivar 1403, the second series of Pakistan-Indonesia military exercises was held, focusing on joint training against the threat of terrorism and exchange of experiences between the armed forces, hosted by the Pakistani Army.
