Intensification of anti-black racism in European countries

PNN – Studies show that Germany is the leader of the EU countries in terms of increasing racism against black people, and Austria and Finland are the next most racist countries in Europe.

According to the International group of Pakistan News Network, The results of new surveys show that black people in the European Union experience the highest level of harassment and racial discrimination compared to the last six years, and the statistics related to anti-black racism in Germany have increased sharply.

According to Deutsche Welle, according to the European Union report published on Wednesday, racism against blacks has reached its peak in Austria and Germany, and reports of racial harassment have intensified in these two countries in recent years.

About a third of black people in European countries have felt racial discrimination in the past 12 months, up 10 percent from six years ago, according to findings from a survey by the European Union’s Fundamental Rights Agency.

The rate of racial discrimination among black people living in two European countries, Germany and Austria, is above 64%. While earlier, according to the latest reports obtained in the last 12 months, the feeling of racial discrimination in Germany was estimated at 33%.

This experience is more common among people of African descent because of their skin color. Three quarters of people participating in the survey of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights stated that they had experienced discrimination in the last 5 years. After Germany and Austria, Finland is the third country where racial discrimination against blacks has intensified.

At the same time, the lowest level of racist feelings was in Portugal and Sweden, and after these two countries, residents of Poland also reported low levels and very few cases of racism.

Among all the victims of racism and discrimination of young black women, people who have higher education and religious people have experienced the most discrimination in these countries. Nearly a third of respondents reported feeling discriminated against when looking for work; while another 31 percent said they felt discriminated against when looking for a place to live.

Apart from these discriminatory feelings, the majority of blacks in the European Union have stated that they are exposed to extreme poverty. 33% of them said that they are facing problems to make ends meet and another 14% said that they cannot even keep their homes warm.

According to these reviews, the European Union’s Fundamental Rights Agency has asked the member states of this union to take measures to reduce harassment and racial discrimination. Proper implementation of anti-discrimination laws, identifying and punishing hate crimes, and preventing and eradicating institutional discrimination such as police brutality against blacks are among these.
