SDF military commanders announced that this month was the bloodiest for their forces since 2019, before the collapse of ISIS in Syria.

The Syrian Kurdish command stressed that ISIS tactics have changed, with its members now operating in small sleeper cells, receiving orders to ambush and plant roadside bombs. The command sources noted that these operations are “low-cost” and difficult to eliminate.

Simand Ali, a spokesman for the Kurdish People’s Defense Units, said about ISIS gunmen: They rely on small groups of four or five people in each operation, each of whom has a Kalashnikov rifle and an improvised explosive device.

According to the newspaper, ISIS gunmen no longer wear military uniforms or carry their distinctive black flags, a tactic that allows them to blend in more easily with the local population.
