International institutions express deep concern over the “unbearable” situation in Gaza

PNN – The World Food Program, Save the Children, UNRWA, and Oxfam expressed their deep concern about the unbearable conditions in Gaza.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, the World Food Program issued a statement stating that 100 percent of the residents of the Gaza Strip suffer from severe food insecurity.

According to a statement from this international center, more than 70,000 children in Gaza need urgent treatment for acute malnutrition.

The report emphasized that every family in Gaza struggles to secure its future food supply.

The international organization “Save the Children” also issued a statement, stating that the children of Gaza are wishing for death and that the depth of the tragedies they are living with is indescribable.

The organization called on the British government to stop all arms transfers to the occupied territories.

UNRWA High Commissioner Philippe Lazzarini also stated in a statement that no humanitarian aid has reached the Gaza Strip for more than 3 months.

This international institution emphasized that the suffering of the people of Gaza is unbearable and is getting worse day by day.

The institute added that the only way to provide safe aid to Gaza is to channel it through UN agencies, including UNRWA.

Bushra Al-Khalidi, Oxfam’s policy director in the Palestinian territories, emphasized in an interview with Al Jazeera that humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip should only be distributed through international institutions.

Rejecting the Israeli regime’s claims regarding the aid distribution process, he said: We were able to successfully distribute aid during the ceasefire period and proved that this is possible.

Al-Khalidi also warned that the current form of aid distribution in Gaza is actually leading to the death of people, adding: Depriving people of food has nothing to do with war; it is a deliberate and unjustifiable strategy. The Zionist regime has no right to starve and kill two million people in Gaza.

The spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Palestine also warned about the critical situation of children in the Gaza Strip, saying: The collapse of the healthcare system seriously threatens the lives of thousands of children.

Kazem Abu Khalaf announced in a press conference that since October 7, 2023, an average of 27 children have lost their lives in Gaza every day, an unprecedented statistic that is unmatched anywhere else in the world. He added: If we include the injured, the daily number of child victims during this period reaches 83.

Abu Khalaf emphasized that children are the main victims of famine and malnutrition caused by the ongoing war, and tens of thousands of them need urgent treatment for severe malnutrition.

He also noted that, according to initial statistics, more than 40,000 children have been orphaned during the war, and this number is increasing alarmingly.

A UNICEF spokesperson emphasized the psychological and neurological effects of this crisis on children, saying: Gaza children will need years to recover, not only from the physical injuries, but also from the deep emotional trauma they have experienced.
