PNN – The spokesperson of the International Monetary Fund, Julie Kozak, announced in a meeting with reporters that Ukraine will need significant funding worth 42 billion dollars this year.
According to Pakistan News Network’s report from “Tass” report, he said: Ukraine’s financing needs for 2024 remain significant, and Ukraine’s sponsors and partners must ensure that their financing commitments are met and that Ukraine receives the necessary funding to support its macroeconomic stability.
Last December, Ukraine received a $900 million loan from the International Monetary Fund. In late June, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund decided to provide Ukraine with a four-year facility of $890 million.
The International Monetary Fund had previously approved a four-year program for Ukraine worth 15.6 billion dollars. The first tranche of $2.7 billion of this program entered the Ukrainian government budget on April 3.
Reuters reported that a senior humanitarian official told the United Nations Security Council that its agencies next week will request $3.1 billion in aid for Ukraine this year.
The comments by Edem Wosorno, director of operations and support at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), come as the office and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) prepare to launch programs for Ukraine on January 15.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has announced that “more than 14.6 million people, or 40 percent of the population of Ukraine, are in need of humanitarian assistance, and about 6.3 million people have been forced to leave Ukraine.”
The war in Ukraine started by ignoring Moscow’s security concerns, and the western parties blocked the path of any diplomacy to end the fire of this war with huge financial and military support.
