On the other hand, the Hill magazine also reported that Mike Johnson, the Republican Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chuck Schumer, the Democratic Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Leader of the Senate, and Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic Leader in the House of Representatives, signed the letter of invitation to Netanyahu.
Previously, a number of Democratic representatives and senators had opposed Netanyahu’s invitation, but Johnson had threatened that if the Senate refused to sign the invitation, he himself would invite Netanyahu to speak in the House of Representatives.
