Iran challenges international silence on the slaughter of the Iranians.
The United Nations General Assembly is one of the most significant global forums, providing an important opportunity for presidents and officials from various countries to present their views and the opinions of their citizens to the world. Over the past 47 years, Iran has effectively used this prominent platform to communicate its perspectives, positions, and issues to a global audience.
On October 1, President Pezizkian arrived at Mehrabad Airport after ringing the “Nowruz Danesh” bell. In an interview, he highlighted the importance of his attendance at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in Manhattan, stating, “The General Assembly session is an excellent opportunity to listen to the speeches of other officials and presidents and to share our own positions.”
The president traveled to New York despite Washington imposing severe restrictions on the issuance of visas, residency, and the movement of the Iranian delegation. These actions contradict both the spirit and the letter of the 1947 Headquarters Agreement and established diplomatic practices. Nevertheless, such interference did not hinder Iran’s strong presence; the president of the consensus government arrived in America with authority, effectively conveying the voices of his people to the world.
