Iran on the agenda of today’s Brussels meeting; Callas: We are ready for negotiations

PNN – The European Union’s foreign policy chief says the bloc’s foreign ministers will discuss Iran and the issue of the trigger mechanism in the JCPOA today in Brussels.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Anadolu Agency, European Union foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas, referring to the agenda of today’s meeting of the bloc’s foreign ministers in Brussels, said that the issue of Iran and the trigger mechanism in the JCPOA are also on the agenda.

Callas first addressed the issue of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and said: The situation in Gaza is still very, very bad, so as long as it hasn’t improved, we haven’t done enough. We will definitely discuss Gaza and the current situation there. We have reached a common understanding with Israel that the humanitarian situation in Gaza needs to improve.

Kallas also said that European diplomats are scheduled to decide on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia at this meeting, and expressed hope that they will reach a political agreement on this issue today or tomorrow, and according to him, an agreement is very close.

The senior EU official continued by pointing out that the issue of Iran will also be discussed at today’s meeting, emphasizing: It is definitely in our interest to return to the path of diplomacy and negotiations. We are ready to do so, and the deadline for the trigger mechanism under the JCPOA is approaching.
