PNN – Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations called US President Donald Trump’s “reckless and hostile statements” a gross violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, especially Article 2, Paragraph 4, and said: The Islamic Republic of Iran issues a serious warning against any military adventurism and will respond swiftly and decisively to any aggressive action or attack by the United States.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Amir Saeed Iravani stated in a letter to Ms. Christina Marcus Lassen, the current President of the Security Council, and Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations: The Islamic Republic of Iran issues a strong warning against any military adventurism and declares that it will respond swiftly and decisively to any act of aggression or attack by the United States or its proxy, specifically the Israeli regime, against its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national interests. The United States of America will bear full responsibility for the dire consequences of any hostile action.

Following the order of my government and in continuation of previous letters from the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the letter dated March 17, 2025, the present correspondence is being sent regarding another, flagrant and blatant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations by the United States of America.
In a recent interview with NBC News on March 30, 2025, the President of the United States once again resorted to the language of threats and force and explicitly threatened the Islamic Republic of Iran with military action. He stated: If they don’t agree, they will be bombed; a bombardment the likes of which they have never seen before.
Such reckless and hostile statements constitute a gross violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations, in particular Article 2, paragraph 4 thereof, which expressly prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. Since assuming office in January 2025, the President of the United States of America has ignored and violated all international norms and principles that form the foundation of the founding of the United Nations. He has continuously threatened sovereign states with the use of force, a pattern that is creating a dangerous trend in international relations.
It is a matter of great regret and concern that the United States, despite being a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, blatantly ignores its obligations under the United Nations Charter and uses military power as the main tool of pressure to advance its political and geopolitical goals.
In view of the above-mentioned gross violations and their potential consequences, the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly urges the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility under the United Nations Charter for the maintenance of international peace and security. The Security Council should unequivocally condemn the threats of the US President as a violation of international law and the UN Charter, and call on the US to abide by its legal obligations under international law and the UN Charter. The Security Council and the international community should not remain silent in the face of such warmongering provocations; failure to act risks catastrophic consequences not only for the region but also for international peace and security. The Islamic Republic of Iran remains strongly committed to regional peace, stability and security and has no desire for conflict or escalation.
However, the Islamic Republic of Iran issues a serious warning against any military adventurism and declares that it will respond swiftly and decisively to any aggressive action or attack by the United States or its proxy, (specifically) the Israeli regime, against its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national interests. The full responsibility for the grave consequences of any hostile action will rest entirely with the United States of America.
