PNN – The Washington Post reported that Gulf countries warned the United States that Iranian missiles could cause significant damage to American interests.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the Washington Post, according to two informed Western officials, the Persian Gulf countries have warned American officials that Tehran’s missile program is still capable of causing significant damage to American interests in the region.
According to these officials, an assessment conducted by a US ally in the Persian Gulf shows that key elements of Iran’s missile program remained intact and other capabilities have been restored, even after the Israeli regime invaded Iran during the 12-day imposed war.
The Washington Post added: Iran’s ability to carry out effective retaliatory strikes has played a central role in the Trump administration’s decision-making. According to assessments, Iran has retained short-range munitions, launchers and some elements of its missile production system. These munitions could target U.S. interests in the Persian Gulf, including more than a dozen military bases and tens of thousands of American troops. These capabilities are so threatening that some Gulf States have taken steps to distance themselves from the increased U.S. military presence. The UAE and Saudi Arabia previously announced that American forces would not use their territory or airspace in any operations.
The media added that according to David de Roches, former director of Arabian Peninsula affairs in the US Secretary of Defense’s office, Iran has the largest missile program in the region.
The Washington Post noted: In June, Iran targeted the country’s Al-Udeid air base in Qatar with ballistic missiles in response to a US military attack on its nuclear facilities during the 12-day war, demonstrating to US allies that it is capable of carrying out deadly attacks in the Persian Gulf, and this time, like the attack on Al-Udeid, these attacks will not be measured and announced.
