Iranian President: Targeting US bases is within the framework of the right to self-defense

Iranian President

PNN – Iranian President Masoud Pezishkiyan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif exchanged views on the latest regional developments and bilateral relations in a telephone conversation.

In this conversation, the Iranian President congratulated and wished the prayers and worships of the faithful and Muslim people of Pakistan during the holy month of Ramadan to be accepted, and wished for peace and tranquility for all Muslim nations.

Referring to recent developments, Pezishkiyan continued: While the Islamic Republic of Iran was in the midst of negotiations with serious determination to resolve issues, it was subjected to a military attack by the United States and the Zionist regime for the second time; a criminal attack that led to the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and a number of innocent compatriots, including students.

Iranian President added: Unfortunately, the aggressors, abusing the territorial integrity of neighboring countries, attacked infrastructure facilities, public places, hospitals, and schools. In just one case, following a brutal attack on a school in Minab, 168 innocent students were killed.

Emphasizing Iran’s defense strategy, Pezishkiyan noted: The Islamic Republic of Iran has no intention of targeting or engaging in conflict with regional countries, and only bases from which our territory is attacked will be targeted within the framework of the right to self-defense.

Iranian President also warned: If the international community and international organizations do not pay attention to and address the main factors behind this imposed war and military aggression against Iran, the conditions governing global order and security will become chaotic and unstable.

In this telephone conversation, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also exchanged greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan with the government and people of Iran, expressing hope that with the blessings of this virtuous month, Muslim governments and nations will live in peace and tranquility.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, reiterating his country’s principled position in condemning the US and Zionist aggression against Iran, expressed the deep solidarity of the Pakistani government and people with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Shahbaz Sharif also expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, congratulated the President, government, and nation of Iran on the election of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and expressed his hope that during his leadership, we will witness Iran’s greater prosperity than ever before.

The Pakistani Prime Minister concluded by expressing interest in continuing joint efforts to advance and enhance relations between the two neighboring and Muslim countries, as well as strengthening relations among Islamic countries in the region.
