PNN – In a report titled “Iran’s Missile Arsenal, a Nightmare for US Bases in the Middle East,” The National Interest described Iran’s military capabilities to counter any possible American adventurism.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, “The National Interest” wrote, referring to the escalation of tensions between Iran and the United States: If current tensions escalate into a military conflict, Iran will likely respond by firing thousands of ballistic missiles and suicide drones at US positions in the region. Iran’s ballistic missile arsenal is multi-layered and diverse, encompassing a variety of munitions with varying capabilities. Missiles such as the Khorramshahr, Sejil, Emad, Ghadr-110, Fatah-1, Hajj Qassem, Khyber-Shakan, and Dezful could pose a major threat to U.S. forces.
This American publication explained, noting that the range of these missiles is between 620 and 1,240 miles: This range means that 31 US bases housing American forces in the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe will be within range of Iran’s arsenal. Most of these bases are located in countries close to Iran; in particular, Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, Naval Support Base Bahrain in Bahrain, and Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which are the main centers of the US Army, US Navy, and US Air Force in the Persian Gulf region, respectively. Other nearby bases in Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Turkey could also be under threat. Also, some US installations outside the Middle East – such as US bases in Greece, Bulgaria and Romania – which are still within range of Iranian ballistic missiles could be targeted.
The report continues: In addition to ballistic missiles, Iran has a large and sophisticated arsenal of single-pronged attack drones. The “Shahed” drones, which come in several different models, are capable of flying hundreds of miles and delivering their deadly payloads with precision.
The American media has warned that “in the event of a possible conflict with Iran, the US military can expect mass attacks by Iranian suicide drones on air bases and naval forces in the region,” and emphasized that “when these drones are used en masse, the task becomes much more difficult.”
The media outlet finally emphasized: In the event of a military conflict with Iran, the main challenge for the US military will be to eliminate the threat of Tehran’s unilateral ballistic missiles and offensive unmanned systems.
