PNN – In a statement, the Iraqi Foreign Minister said: We are trying to convince the armed groups to lay down their weapons or join the official security forces.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Reuters, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fawad Hossein also claimed that the Iraqi government had asked what it called “Iranian-backed groups” to lay down their weapons.
These statements are made while the Iranian government has repeatedly announced that the resistance groups in the region are independent and act independently.
In another part of his statement, Fawad Hossein said: If we are asked, Baghdad will be ready to help reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq also mentioned the developments in Syria and stated that Baghdad cannot be sure about the conditions of this country until it witnesses the comprehensive political process in Syria.
