PNN – The Iraqi President emphasized that his country is ready to be a connecting link between the East and the West.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the official Iraqi News Agency (WAA), Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid said at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York: Iraq is ready to act as a link and dialogue between the East and the West.
He emphasized that the country has regained its natural position in the international community and in relations with its neighbors.
In a speech, the Iraqi President expressed his appreciation for the role of the United Nations in supporting the country’s democratic processes and emphasized: The United Nations has always been a helper of the Iraqi people in supporting democratic processes and holding elections.

Referring to Baghdad’s readiness to hold parliamentary elections, he said: Iraq is taking steps towards continuing the process of peaceful transfer of power, and in cooperation with the judiciary, we are trying to hold free, healthy, and transparent elections.
The Iraqi President also recalled the country’s victory over terrorist groups and noted: With the help of friends and allies, Iraq was able to overcome the world’s most dangerous terrorist threat.
He emphasized the need for a comprehensive confrontation with the phenomenon of terrorism, adding: Terrorism has a single nature and no distinction should be made between its different faces.
The Iraqi president also called for a serious crackdown on supporters of terrorism, whether with money or weapons.
Referring to the developments in Gaza, the Iraqi President emphasized that what is happening in this region indicates discrimination in the implementation of human rights and justice.
He also called on the international community to implement UN decisions and help the Palestinian people establish their independent state.
While welcoming the global recognition of the State of Palestine, he condemned the Zionist actions against countries in the region, including Syria, Lebanon, and most recently, Qatar.
