PNN – Iraqi sources announced the start of a new operation by security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces against the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group in the country.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Ma’ulouma News Agency, an Iraqi security source announced the start of a security operation on the outskirts of the “Al-Mazra’a” area near Baiji in the north of Salahuddin province.
The security source stated: Iraqi forces have launched an operation in several areas in the Al-Mazraa area near Baiji, north of Salahuddin. The operation was carried out in response to information about the presence of ammunition belonging to ISIS terrorist forces.
The source emphasized: Explosive ordnance disposal teams have taken action to defuse the explosives and ensure complete security in the area. The operation aims to secure the agricultural areas adjacent to Baiji and prevent any possible terrorist activity.
The source stated: The objectives of this operation have not been announced in advance and are focused on five main points within the framework of the strategy of the Salahuddin Operation Command to ensure the security of villages, areas and towns liberated from ISIS.
An Iraqi source also reported another operation deep in the Hamrin Hills in the far northeast of Diyala province.
The source referred to the destruction of ISIS hideouts in this area and announced: Solar panels were discovered in these hideouts. This operation was carried out based on accurate information. The aim of this operation is to destroy ISIS hideouts, especially in the Hamrin Hills, which is an inaccessible area located between Diyala, Salahuddin and Kirkuk.
According to the report, this operation will be a new blow to terrorist groups in order to end the remnants of ISIS forces in Iraq.
At the same time, sources affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) reported extensive operations in the desert areas of Anbar in western Iraq to track down ISIS remnants hiding in secret underground tunnels.
These sources referred to the operations of the Popular Mobilization Forces in the “Wadi Huran” and nearby areas following information about the presence of ISIS cells hidden inside tunnels in difficult-to-access areas.
The sources stated: Information from the commanders of the Popular Mobilization Forces proves that the aforementioned areas are among the dangerous areas. The aim of the operation is to pursue ISIS elements in order to arrest or kill them.
