Iraqi MP: Terrorist groups in Syria threaten Iraq’s security.
Iraqi MP Mohammed al-Baldawi said that the movements of terrorist elements and gangs in Syrian territory pose a direct threat to Iraq’s security and stability.
Referring to the possible consequences of the presence of these groups on the borders and in areas close to Iraq, he stated: “Terrorist groups are still moving in Syria in a worrying manner, which poses a serious threat to Iraq’s security.”
The Iraqi MP added that these gangs may exploit any security gaps to infiltrate and carry out operations inside the country.
He called on the government and security agencies to intensify border measures and closely monitor these movements to prevent any attempts to destabilize the country.
After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, various regions of Syria continue to witness unrest and instability.
In this regard, the Information and Communications Department of the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that on Friday night, two Katyusha rockets were fired from the outskirts of Damascus towards residential neighborhoods in and around the Al-Mazza area, injuring several Syrian citizens and causing material damage to the area.
The Ministry of Defense of the Syrian interim government emphasized in this statement that a joint investigation has been launched with the Ministry of Interior to identify the route and source of the rockets and that all evidence and documents are being collected.
The ministry also stated that the perpetrators of this treacherous act will be prosecuted and the necessary deterrent measures will be taken against any individual or group that threatens the security of the capital.
