Iraqi Prime Minister candidate agreed upon.
According to Baghdad Al-Youm News Agency, former Iraqi parliamentarian Abbas Sarout announced that an initial agreement has been reached among the members of the Shiite Coordination Framework on a specific personality to assume the post of prime minister.
He emphasized: The path ahead will not be easy and the country is facing complex regional and international variables and numerous domestic crises.
Sarout added that the future prime minister must have high flexibility in managing crises, especially the financial crisis and budget deficit, and be able to cope with the pressures and responsibilities of the new period.
He noted that after completing the file for the election of the speaker of the parliament and the president, the president will be required to introduce his candidate to form a cabinet, and in addition to determining the candidate, the most important point is his ability to lead the country in complex circumstances.
The Iraqi Shiite Coordination Framework plans to hold an important meeting at the home of Nouri Al-Maliki, leader of the Government of Law coalition, to finalize the last details related to the selection of the prime minister candidate.
Informed sources emphasized that the meeting will be dedicated to a detailed examination of the personality traits that will be able to lead the country and confront political, economic and security challenges, and if disagreements about the candidates continue, the option of an internal vote will also be considered.
According to Baghdad Al-Youm sources, the chance of the current Prime Minister, “Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani”, to serve a second term still exists, and the final result will be determined during today’s meeting.
The Iraqi Independent High Election Commission had previously announced the final results of the country’s sixth parliamentary elections.
According to the announced results, the Development and Development Alliance, headed by Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, won the most seats in the elections.
After the election results were announced, the Coordination Framework Alliance (the grand coalition of Shiites in the new parliament), which had convened in Baghdad with the presence of all its members, announced in a statement that it was the largest faction in the new Iraqi parliament.
