PNN – The Prime Minister of Iraq said: interference in the affairs or military presence of Türkiye in Syria is unacceptable.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, “Mohammed Shia Al-Soudani” added in an exclusive interview with “Al-Akhbariya” TV channel of this country: The main goal of Iraq and the Arab countries is to maintain the unity and security of the Syrian lands.
He added: Our government’s policy shows that Iraq is a central, important and influential country and has achieved success in difficult circumstances.
Referring to the country’s efforts to restore relations between Türkiye and Syria during the rule of “Bashar Assad”, the Iraqi Prime Minister said: I informed the President of Turkey during his visit to Baghdad last April about the importance of reviving relations between Ankara and Damascus, and he agreed to this.
He added: Bashar Assad also announced his initial agreement in a meeting held at the level of the foreign ministers of Iraq, Turkey and Syria in Baghdad, but there were conditions.
Al-Sudani continued: Three times in the conversation with Assad, an attempt was made to hold a meeting in Baghdad at the level of the foreign ministers of Syria and Turkey, and the Turkish side also agreed, but the return of Syrian refugees and asylum seekers to their lands and the fight against terrorism was a condition.
He added: The Syrian side told us that it agrees with Turkey on the return of refugees, but the fight against terrorism should be done in general, whether against PKK or other armed groups, and this was the point of difference between the parties.

Stating that after three attempts, it was not possible for Turkey and Syria to sit at the same table, the Iraqi Prime Minister said: Iraq made efforts to bring the views of Turkey and Syria closer.
Emphasizing that Iraq’s position of non-interference in Syrian affairs is clear, he said: We want to leave the decision to the Syrian people to choose their options.
The Prime Minister of Iraq stated that this country made a diplomatic effort in the region to agree on general principles regarding Syria, adding: We do not want others to interfere in Syrian affairs.
Stating that the situation in Syria is similar to the situation in Iraq in 2003, al-Sudani added: This is what obliges us to advise to avoid the mistakes we made.
The Prime Minister of Iraq stated that the government of this country has identified the dangers using all its powers and has taken into account all the security, political and economic measures, adding: We consider the supreme interests of Iraq and do not bring it into the conflict arena.
Stating that Iraq has not received any threat in any matter, he stated: Iraq has reached a stage of regional and international confidence and acceptance.
The Prime Minister of Iraq stated that the countries have declared their commitment to support Baghdad against any terrorist threat that intends to invade the country’s borders, adding that Iraq is still a member of the international coalition against ISIS.
Stressing that imposing conditions on Iraq is not acceptable to anyone, Al-Sudani added: There is no condition for the dissolution of Hashd al-Shaabi.
Stating that the government has prioritized law enforcement without bias, he said: Iraq’s borders are in their best condition and for the first time, the border points of this country have good strength.
The Prime Minister of Iraq stated that “in peace and war, the government is the decision maker”, and stated: We will not allow any party to bring Iraq into war and conflict.
He also said about the presence of the international coalition forces in Iraq: the presence of 86 countries from the international coalition in Iraq has no justification.
