Iraq’s largest operation near the border with Syria in the past 10 years.
According to Al-Ma’ulouma, Yasser Iskander, a member of the Security Commission in the Iraqi Parliament, stressed that the situation in Syria has caused concerns in Iraq.
He added: “Given the developments in this country, all necessary preventive measures and measures must be taken to secure Iraq’s borders.”
Iskander added: “Baghdad, through the Ministries of Interior and Defense, is carrying out the largest military force redeployment operation on the common borders with Syria in the past 10 years.”
He said: “This operation is aimed at preventing terrorist elements from penetrating Iraqi territory and protecting sensitive areas of the country.”
