Islamabad: The events in Syria make terrorist groups bolder/ we want to preserve the sovereignty of Syria

PNN – Expressing deep concern over the ongoing developments in Syria, Pakistan called for international efforts to help preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country and added: The events in Syria make terrorist groups bolder.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the spokesperson of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mumtaz Zahra, in her weekly press conference in Islamabad, in response to the developments in Syria, announced that Islamabad is deeply concerned about the latest developments in the Syrian Arab Republic.

She emphasized: the current situation in Syria leads to greater instability in the region and the emboldening of terrorist groups.

Mumtaz Zahra considered the promotion of peace and security in Syria as important for the stability of the region and said: Pakistan wants international efforts to reduce tensions, maintain the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.

From November 27, 2024, with the support of some countries, terrorist groups attacked the positions of the Syrian army and towns and villages in the northwestern and western regions of Syria. The Syrian authorities have so far on various occasions considered the Turkish government as a supporter of the armed groups based in northern Syria and have demanded an end to this support and an end to the occupation of the northern Syrian territory by the Turkish army.

These terrorist attacks against the positions of the Syrian army violated the ceasefire agreement concluded in 2020 because these areas are included in the “de-escalation” agreement signed with the guarantee of Turkey in Astana, which includes areas in Idlib, the outskirts of Aleppo and parts of Hama and Latakia.
