Islamabad’s emphasis on confronting Islamophobia / welcoming the normalization of Tehran-Riyadh relations

Pak Sahafat – During his speech at the UN General Assembly, the Prime Minister of Pakistan welcomed the normalization of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia and the efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria and Yemen.

According to the report of Pak Sahafat News Agency on Pakistan’s national television on Friday night, “Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar” said during a speech at the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York: This summit will be held at a critical moment in history. Conflicts have intensified in Ukraine and 50 other places around the world, and tensions between world powers have continued to escalate.

Stating that we are witnessing the emergence of new and old military and political blocs, he added: When the geo-economic situation should be a priority in the world, the geo-political situation is growing again. There are far greater challenges facing humanity that require global cooperation and collective action.

Anwar al-Haq further emphasized the importance of resolving the Palestinian conflict and said: Pakistan warmly welcomes the progress made in ending the conflicts in Syria and Yemen, especially the normalization of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

He added: “Unfortunately, the tragedy of Palestine continues with the attacks of the Israeli regime, airstrikes, the expansion of settlements and the expulsion of Palestinians.” Lasting peace in the occupied Palestinian territories is only possible through the solution of creating a continuous Palestinian state according to the pre-1967 borders with Quds Sharif as its capital.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan also blamed the offensive actions against Islamic holy places in Europe, especially the recent incidents of desecration of the Holy Quran, and said: We emphasize the collective confrontation with the phenomenon of Islamophobia and we welcome the actions of the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take practical steps to prevent extreme and offensive actions.

He considered development dependent on peace and added: Pakistan believes that the world moves towards development together, so Pakistan wants peaceful and constructive relations with all its neighbors, including India.

Anwar-ul-Haq went on to say that resolving the Kashmir dispute is the key to peace between Pakistan and India and said: New Delhi avoids resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council, however, Pakistan is committed to cooperation in this field.

The acting Prime Minister of Pakistan also added about the situation in Afghanistan: Peace in Afghanistan is a strategic necessity for Pakistan. We share concerns with the international community about Afghanistan, especially the rights of women and girls, however we support the continuation of humanitarian aid to the poor population of Afghanistan where Afghan girls and women are the most vulnerable.
