PNN – Israeli athletes were expelled from the Winter Olympics for lying.
In one of the most embarrassing and unusual incidents of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the Israeli luge team was officially expelled from the games after a team member lied, the Israeli Kan network admitted. The Israeli three-man team faced constant boos from the beginning of the Winter Olympics and was known as the most hated team in the competition.
Yesterday, during the Winter Olympics, a member of the Israeli team requested to use a fourth and reserve player due to injuries to the main three members. But after the substitution and the entry of the fourth player, who according to the law is only allowed to participate in competitions in times of emergency, it became clear that the substitute player had lied and was not injured.
The IOC Medical Commission deemed this to be deliberate misrepresentation and expelled the entire Israeli luge team from the Olympics. This was the first time in Winter Olympic history that an entire team was disqualified for false medical clearance (not for direct doping, but for violating medical and integrity rules).
