Israel fears that its military will disobey to stop the Gaza war.
According to Al Jazeera Qatar, Israel’s Channel 12 TV announced that Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, has held an emergency meeting to control the crisis caused by the protest petition of the reservists.
The Hebrew-language channel reported that the Israeli army is fully aware of the dangerous dimensions of internal divisions and the possibility of disobedience spreading among former and reservist soldiers.
It was also said that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army intends to prevent the presence of any reservists who are currently on active duty.
The Israeli army also admitted that about 150 veterans of the Golani Brigade have also joined the protest petition to end the Gaza war.
Dozens of Israeli Air Force pilots, including active duty and reservists, threatened on April 10 of this year to refuse to serve if the Israeli prisoners were not returned, even if this action led to an end to the war.
These pilots said that the continuation of the war is only for personal and political interests and not in line with security interests.
They also warned that the continuation of the war would lead to more civilian and military casualties and a serious erosion of the Israeli army’s reserve force structure.
