Israeli analyst: Netanyahu-Trump meeting to involve regional issue trade-offs.
Yaghi told Shahab News Agency: “The upcoming meeting between Trump and Netanyahu is not consultative, but a fundamental turning point that will chart a roadmap for the future of the West Asian region. The region is not moving towards peace or stability under any circumstances, but rather towards an inevitable escalation of tensions.”
He noted that the events of October 7 were merely a pretext to implement pre-planned plans aimed at imposing Trump’s “peace by force” strategy, which is based on subjugating countries, plundering their resources, and turning them into guardians of Israel’s security.
Yaghi dismissed the possibility of any fundamental differences between the two leaders, stating that their strategic understanding is fully established and that Israel’s security is an integral part of America’s security.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, Yaghi expects the meeting to witness a sensitive political trade-off between Gaza and the West Bank. This means that the US government will turn a blind eye to the actions of the government and extremist settlers in the West Bank in exchange for the gradual implementation of the second phase of the Trump plan for Gaza.
He explained that this phase involves the formation of a technocratic government and an international stabilization force, while Netanyahu maintains Israel’s tactics of stalling, betting that the division of the Palestinians and the complexities of the internal situation in Gaza will inevitably lead to the failure of the plan.
Yaghi believes that the Lebanese front is the most vulnerable of all fronts to an escalation of tensions, and that Netanyahu will likely receive the green light from the US to launch a limited and painful military operation in Lebanon, aimed at testing Hezbollah’s ability to endure without retaliation.
He continued: “If Hezbollah does not respond, the focus will shift towards diplomatic solutions aimed at disarming the group.” However, if Hezbollah responds, the expected scenario is a massive escalation of regional tensions, especially since Iran will not allow its strategic ally to be eliminated.
Yaghi emphasized that this military round is inevitable and imminent, especially shortly before the Israeli elections. Both sides agree that Trump’s plan to expand the Abraham Accords and focus on the principle of combining security and the economy is completely incompatible with any stability on the Iranian front.
He emphasized that Netanyahu will not accept any peace or stability in the region without achieving what he calls a “geopolitical shift,” which means subjugating Israel’s neighboring countries. This means that the region will remain trapped in a cycle of instability and constant escalation of tensions.
Yaghi concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the results of the meeting will be closely related to the “power factor,” as Netanyahu is influenced by his personal situation and the upcoming elections and seeks to impose his agenda, which is in line with Trump’s.
