Israeli Army Rehabilitation Center: 80,000 soldiers are receiving treatment.

The Zionist newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, in a report quoting the rehabilitation department of the Israeli Ministry of War, reported a significant increase in the number of physically and mentally injured soldiers in the regime’s army, describing the situation as a “national challenge.”

According to the report, more than 80,000 soldiers and former soldiers are currently receiving support and services from this institution. Of these, more than 26,000 suffer from mental disorders and injuries caused by post-traumatic stress and anxiety (PTSD), which is equivalent to more than a third of all recipients of rehabilitation services.

Billion-dollar budget, ongoing crisis

A significant portion of the annual budget of the Israeli Ministry of War is also allocated to this department. According to the report, more than 50 percent of the rehabilitation department’s annual budget – equivalent to about 4.2 billion shekels (1.13 billion US dollars) – is spent on providing medical services and support to these individuals.

Despite the costs, officials have warned that the growing number of people with mental disorders, as well as the increasing suicide rate among military personnel, has become a widespread problem and a “major national challenge.”
