Israeli army warns Tel Aviv political officials.
According to Al Jazeera, the Israeli Channel 12 television reported that the commanders of the Israeli army have emphasized to Tel Aviv’s political officials that the continuation of military operations in Gaza could endanger the lives of Israeli prisoners.
The commanders of the Israeli army have previously emphasized on several occasions the need to stop Tel Aviv’s military aggression against Gaza and Lebanon because, in light of the lack of military equipment and manpower, as well as the resistance of Lebanese and Palestinian forces, there is no possibility of further advances in these two regions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was heavily criticized after Operation Storm al-Aqsa, continued the bloody war in Gaza by ignoring the lives of Israeli prisoners in Hamas custody. Pressure from the families of Israeli prisoners also did not cause Netanyahu to change his policies.
Accordingly, the Israeli Prime Minister established a special reward for the release of Israeli prisoners to counter the accusations leveled against his cabinet that the peace talks and prisoner exchange had failed.
Addressing the Palestinians in Gaza, Netanyahu announced: “We will offer a $5 million reward for every Israeli prisoner held by Hamas who is released by the Palestinians.”
